Ben J. Tarbutton is vice president of the Sandersville Railroad Company in Sandersville, Georgia. He graduated from Emory University in 1951 with a degree in Economics. Ben was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy which he served from 1952-1955. He is past president of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce as well as Emeritus Director.

Mr. Tarbutton was appointed to the State Board by Governor Zell Miller to represent the State At Large. He was reappointed by Governor Roy Barnes and in 2005 by Governor Sonny Perdue. Mr. Tarbutton currently serves as Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee and a member of the Board’s Community and Public Affairs and Facilities and Real Estate Committees.
