LaGrange – TCSG Commissioner Ron Jackson has selected Perrin Alford to be the acting president of West Georgia Technical College, effective September 1. Alford, the college’s vice president of student affairs, will serve in the interim following the retirement of current WGTC President Daryl Gilley on August 31. “The students, faculty and staff of West Georgia Tech will be well-served with Perrin Alford as their acting president,” said Jackson. “He’s a skilled leader who knows the college and can continue the strong, positive momentum that’s been created by President Gilley.” Gilley is stepping down after leading WGTC since 2003. A career educator, he’s spent 38 years in the field and has been a part of the Georgia technical college system since 1990. “President Gilley’s legacy will be his dedication to his college and his commitment to provide the best in technical education to each and every student who has ever stepped onto his campus,” said Jackson. “ He has built a strong and well-respected college, and the new West Campus is the direct result of his visionary leadership.’ ‘He’s earned his retirement, and our entire technical college system wishes him the very best,” added Jackson. The process to select the next full-time president of the college will be announced at a later date. ### |
