West Central Tech Employee Named to Magazine’s “40 Under 40” List

Waco – Dawn Cook, the director of institutional advancement at West Central Technical College, has been named one of Georgia Trend magazine’s “40 Under 40.” The annual list profiles future leaders from Georgia’s academic, governmental, cultural and commercial sectors.

The article appears in the magazine’s October issue.

“To be named to this impressive list is an outstanding achievement for Ms. Cook,” said Ron Jackson, commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia.  “I’m very pleased that her hard work and community involvement has brought such a great recognition to her, the college and our system.”

Cook, 39, directs the college’s marketing and public relations while at the same time managing the work of the West Central Technical College Foundation.  She’s also an integral part of her community, serving as the chair of both the Haralson County Chamber of Commerce and the PTO at Jones Elementary in Bremen.

Last year, Cook’s enthusiasm for her college and service to her community earned her recognition as one of Carroll County’s 2006 “Career Women of the Year.”

“Dawn has proven herself very capable in many roles during her career with the college,” said West Central President Skip Sullivan.  “Her dedication to this college and this community is well-documented and this recognition is well-deserved.”

Cook has worked at West Central Tech since 1995, including seven years as executive assistant to the president.  She has a bachelor of business administration from the University of West Georgia and is currently pursuing her M.B.A.

A unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, West Central Tech serves more than 10,000 students annually in programs that include credit enrollment, adult education, continuing education and corporate training.
