Atlanta – Governor Sonny Perdue has reappointed Atlanta businessman Don L. Chapman as the Fifth Congressional District representative on the state board that oversees the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). This is Chapman’s second five-year appointment to the board that oversees the state’s 33 technical colleges, which last year enrolled more than 148,000 students in technical education programs. The TCSG is also responsible for the 84,000 adult learners in the state’s adult literacy programs as well as the management of Quick Start, an internationally-known incentive to attract and retain business and industry in Georgia. Chapman is the CEO of Tug Investment Corporation and the founder and former CEO of Tug Manufacturing Corporation and OptiWorld. He was also the founder and past president of Peachtree Report. He has served on a number of committees of the TCSG board, including his current position as chair of the Operations and Technology Committee and as a member of the Strategic Planning, People and Finance Committee. He is a past chair of the Academic Standards and Programs Committee. Chapman was recognized as Business Atlanta’s 1989 Entrepreneur of the Year and received the 2002 Georgia Tech Outstanding Alumnus Award, where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Management. He is former chairman of Leadership Atlanta and has worked with various civic and community organizations, including the Georgia Society to Prevent Blindness, Metropolitan Atlanta Chamber, United Way, Georgia Public Policy Foundation, and Atlanta Association for Retarded Citizens. He is current vice chair of the Georgia Tech Foundation and chair of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and the Tech High Foundation. ### |
