Atlanta – The Technical College System of Georgia’s Office of Adult Education recognized 37 men and women for their achievement in adult education during a luncheon held today at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta. The Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) program honored the 37 as delegates to the state Office of Adult Education’s Leadership Institute, which was held in Atlanta February 13 -15. The EAGLE delegates were chosen from among the more than 84,000 adult learners in the state who are working to achieve their GEDs. They were nominated by their instructors and each represents a technical college or local school system that provides adult education programs. They earned their statewide recognition based on their hard work to obtain their GED and through their excellent character, positive attitude, superb classroom attendance and outstanding leadership. Georgia’s 2008 EAGLE delegates were presented their award at the close of the luncheon by Ron Jackson, the Commissioner for the Technical College System of Georgia. Jackson noted that each is considered an ambassador and spokesperson for Georgia’s adult education and GED program. “These men and women are role models for others who want to obtain their GED,” said Jackson. “I take great pride in knowing that each delegate demonstrates leadership qualities wherever they are – their homes, communities, workplaces and, most assuredly, in their classrooms.” Congratulations to the Georgia’s 2007 EAGLE delegates: William Bell, Albany Technical College Tommy Floyd, Altamaha Technical College Lynn O’Bryant, Appalachian Technical College Mark Rucker, Athens Technical College Hassan Shadeed, Atlanta Public Schools Ruthie Pascal, Augusta Technical College Willie Spikes, Central Georgia Technical College Marion Reese, Clayton County Public Schools Simone Hughes, Coastal Georgia Community College Lauren Ward, Cobb County School District Doris Reynolds, Coosa Valley Technical College Kathy Broome, Dalton State College Emma Cox, Decatur County Schools Abekoe Denkey, DeKalb Technical College Johnson Jackson, East Central Technical College LaWanda Roundtree, Flint River Technical College Jennifer Garner, Griffin Technical College Lenore Delibero, Gwinnett Technical College Heather Gilman, Heart of Georgia Technical College Jonathan Augustus, Lanier Technical College Dantever Hicks, Middle Georgia Technical College Jerald Copeland, Moultrie Technical College LaToya Stewart, Muscogee County Schools John Touralack, North Georgia Technical College Levi Redman, North Metro Technical College Rhonda Greene, Northwestern Technical College Danielle Wadley, Ogeechee Technical College April Musgrove, Okefenokee Technical College L’Oreal Danford, Sandersville Technical College Jamar Hill, Savannah Technical College Sheila Owens, South Georgia Technical College Janet Villagomez, Southeastern Technical College Roxie Kelley, Southwest Technical College Evelyn Norris, Swainsboro Technical College Lynette Adams, Valdosta Technical College Linh Wight, West Central Technical College Courtni Schwiederek, West Georgia Technical College ### |
