Johnny Dodson, Keldriques nominating instructor, was asked to submit one paragraph describing why his outstanding student should be the state GOAL winner and this is what he had to say about Keldrique:

Keldriqe Lofton is a sterling example of the new image of technical education. As a class of 2006 Monroe High School honor graduate, Keldrique could have attended any major university; however, he chose Albany Technical College as the place to start his successful career. He spent three years in high school designing parts, but could not see their applicability. Once he understood that technical education could show him the bigger picture of how these things fit together, he realized the true value of a hands-on education. As a focused young man, he went a step further, researching the job market and global trends. He decided that technical education held more promise for him than even the most prestigious universities. In only three quarters, Keldrique has demonstrated superior knowledge and skill levels in the Industrial Systems Technology program. His work ethics are equally impressive. In addition to his fulltime class schedule, his part-time job, and his family life, Keldrique assists with Albany Tech’s recruiting efforts by sharing his experiences with high school students at career fairs. A straight-talking, quiet leader, Keldrique Lofton possesses the commitment and integrity that is often missing in today’s youth. He will forever be an ambassador for technical education.

As the 2007 state GOAL winner, Keldrique was awarded an allowance to purchase a brand new 2007 Chevrolet car of his choice. Chevrolet partnered with the Technical College System of Georgia and sponsored this grand prize car. The awarding of a car is symbolic because it enables the state winner to literally go wherever their aspirations lead them. Keldrique proved to be that person, and we know that he is eager to show off his new Chevrolet as he travels the state promoting technical education.
