Overview
Georgia AI Manufacturing (Georgia AIM) is revolutionizing the industrial economy of Georgia and the nation through the development and deployment of talent and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) across all manufacturing sectors. Georgia AIM’s model works to activate AI manufacturing across all communities and populations across Georgia while increasing the resilience of U.S. manufacturing against future shocks and global competition.
Georgia AIM officially launched in October 2022 with more than 100 coalition members and partners involved in projects across the state. The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) will head up Project 2B: Technical Workforce Development, and through this effort will launch AI manufacturing studios and create rural innovation incubators that align with community needs:
- AI Semiconductor Manufacturing Studio (Georgia Piedmont Technical College)
- AI-enhanced Robotic Manufacturing Studio (Central Georgia Technical College, serving Warner Robins Air Force Base)
- Remote Plant Operations Studios to Automate Poultry Processing (Lanier and Southern Regional Technical Colleges- in partnership with Southwest Georgia Regional Commission)
- Innovation Incubators (Southern Regional, Wiregrass Georgia and Lanier Technical Colleges)
The programs work in conjunction with other Georgia AIM programs that combine education and workforce development. For example, the K-12 InVenture Prize is expanding in the area served by Southern Regional Technical College to launch South Georgia Innovation Day and expand the annual competition to students there. An elementary school team from Thomas County reached the national competition last year.
Elsewhere in the state, robotics programs connect K-12 students with advanced technologies now taught at TCSG campuses. For example, the Decatur County School District now hosts the First LEGO League competition.
Project 2A: Technical Workforce Development Goals/Metrics
Metrics*
