Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund makes $50,000 donation to TCSG Emergency Response Fund

ATLANTA—The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Foundation received a grant of $50,000 to the Emergency Response Fund through the Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund, a partnership between the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and United Way of Greater Atlanta. The goal of the funding initiative is to support those most vulnerable to the economic and health-related impacts caused by the pandemic.

“With children out of school, businesses temporarily closing, performances shuttered, and workers being laid off, there has never been a time where community support and financial resources have been more badly needed,” said Milton Little, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Atlanta. “United Way and our partners at the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta are proud to provide TCSG students this emergency funding for immediate needs including computers to engage in distance learning.”

Like all educational institutions, the Technical College System of Georgia has adjusted education delivery methods relying on distance learning for its more than 350,000 students. This emergency funding will provide essential computers and equipment for online learning to students in need.

“This pandemic will force many of our students to make critical decisions related to their education,” said Juli Fields, Executive Director of the Technical College System of Georgia Foundation. “With funding from the Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund, we can provide immediate support to students who may otherwise not be able to continue their educational goals. We are truly grateful to the United Way of Greater Atlanta, Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, and the generous partners who made this support possible.”
