The HDCI Construction Task Force Launched in May, 2017. The goal of the task force is to fill the workforce pipeline with more skilled tradesmen and modernize the construction industry’s reputation. For every four retiring tradesmen, there is only one to take their place. Furthermore, many are not aware of the wide range of opportunities available in the industry which use a variety of skills, technologies and trades. The task force is led by industry leaders, including general contractors, sub-contractors specialists and trade associations. This group collaborates with the Technical College System of Georgia, the Georgia Department of Education, the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia, The Trade Five Initiative and others to develop a stronger workforce pipeline and move the construction industry in Georgia forward. The Task Force focuses on three key areas: 1) curriculum alignment, dual enrollment and articulated credit; 2) understanding and awareness of the construction industry; and 2) work-based learning opportunities and apprenticeships.
