POSITION: Building Automation Systems Adjunct Instructor
DESCRIPTION: This position requires teaching responsibilities for credit courses within the Industrial Division.  Instruction will include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve Internet classes. The instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the Building Automation Systems curriculum.  The instructor will report to the Dean of Industrial Technologies and Legal Studies.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Instructor must possess the ability to:

  • Teach all phases of the Building Automation Systems Technology curriculum
  • Additional duties include developing instructional materials
  • Evaluating students’ progress in achieving instructional goals and objectives
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training area
  • Provide professional instruction based on approved course syllabus
  • Prepare curriculum for coursework taught
  • Operate & maintain instructional equipment & trainers
  • Deliver training by lecture, hands on, computer multi-media, online & text
  • Maintain program certification requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree from a national or regionally accredited college or university in building automation systems/engineering/electronics, or a related field.  Appropriate degree will reflect the requirements of the College’s accrediting agency.

A comprehensive knowledge of current building automation systems technology; experience with systems diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair.

Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.  Also, must be able to teach evening classes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s or Masters’ Degree is desirable.

Experience:  Five or more years, within the last ten of full-time, paid in-field work experience in building automation systems design and/or service, education/training, or a closely related field.  Experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels the instructor will be expected to teach.

Knowledge of Blackboard (Learning Management System) is desirable. Experience in hybrid and/or virtual instruction or courses

Experience in teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds is also desired.

salary/benefits: The salary for this position is dependent on field and credentials for all Adjunct Faculty postings.

Adjunct pay is usually assessed based a lump sum amount per course, per semester and can range from $1,825 – $2,250.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary positions, scheduled based on class needs of the college. Adjunct Faculty will generally sign per term contract agreements which cover a single term at a time, and employment is not guaranteed.  Adjunct faculty members do not receive benefits and are scheduled as needed.  As Adjunct Faculty work on a per-term basis, therefore future courses are not assured. Georgia Defined Contributions and taxes will be deducted.
