Director of Research Planning and Grants Management (FT)

Location: Dougherty County Campus

Albany Technical College seeks a well-qualified, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Director of Research Planning and Grants Management.  Under general supervision, the Director of Research Planning and Grants Management will work with management and staff to determine strategic position and elimination of duplicate processes, maintain knowledge of assigned program areas and provide updates to management.  He/she will define and set goals based on strategic plan, and participate in meetings to ensure department goals are aligned with goals and objectives of the organization.  He/ she will be responsible for assisting in the development of data quality, completeness, and accuracy, collecting and evaluating statistical data or reports to identify performance trends, conduct research and analysis that have statewide impact, prepare data reports for dissemination, and organize and tabulate data using a variety of database software to include spreadsheets, statistical tables, charts, graphs etc. The Director of Research Planning and Grants Management will evaluate grant compliance, make recommendations to grant administrators, and maintain files containing grant research and submission information.  He/she will provide technical expertise information, and problem resolution to key college contacts.  Under general supervision, he/she will develop teams of cross-functional individuals (internal and external) for development and submission of grant applications, research federal or state guidelines to determine requirements, identify agencies and community organizations relevant to grant projects, and develop grant budgets based on program proposal, grant guidelines and budget requirements.  He/she will monitor all grant projects for compliance and budget expenditures, operate effectively within the organizational structure, demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior, and maintain good rapport within the organization, with private sector representatives and the general public.   He/she should have a track record of success in receipt of public and/or private grant awards.  Director of Research Planning and Grants Management serves on committees as needed, and participates in required staff development activities.  He/she should have excellent writing skills, oral communication skills, decision-making skills and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  He/she should have problem-solving skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office and.

Minimum Qualifications:  The applicant MUST possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business or public relations or a related field *AND* have five (5) years’ experience in the defined departmental area *AND* three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in the planning, research, administration, and development of grant proposals *AND* three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in data analysis and research.

Preferred Qualifications:  The applicant MUST possess a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business or public relations or a related field *AND* have five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in data analytics, grant writing and administration.

Physical Demands:  The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight. Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
