Financial Aid Specialist (FT)

Albany Technical College seeks a well-qualified, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Financial Aid Specialist.  The Financial Aid Specialist will report to the Director of Financial Aid. Under general supervision, he/she will collect and review financial aid applications to determine completeness and eligibility.  He/she will determine eligibility and awards financial aid applicants using various software packages, processes applications and corrections, tracks documents, completes the verification process and generates tracking and award notifications.  The Financial Aid Specialist will request additional information on incomplete or inconsistent applications in order to perform accurate needs analysis.  He/she will counsel and advise students and parents concerning the application process, financial aid and VA opportunities.  He/she will monitor SAP status, assist with front-counter duties as needed and other duties as assigned.  The Financial Aid Specialist should have knowledge of the student financial aid process and procedures, knowledge of college, state and federal student financial aid programs, regulations and guidelines and have knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations. The Financial Aid Specialist must possess the ability to work on multiple projects with a strong attention to detail.  He/she should have good decision-making and problem-solving skills, skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.  He/she should have good oral and written communication skills and have the ability to provide excellent customer service.

 

Minimum Qualifications: The applicant MUST have an Associate’s Degree *AND* have three (3) years of related work experience.

NOTE:  Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: The applicant MUST have a Bachelor’s Degree

Physical Demands: Work is typically performed in an office setting with intermittent sitting or walking.  The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight. Hand and finger motion may be required for data entry purposes.

 

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.  Benefits include paid state holidays, annual sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
