JOB DESCRIPTION:
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their Associate Degree Nursing-OB, Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical Instructor position, in the Health and Public Safety Technology division. This position is located at ATC’s (Main Campus), which is just South of Downtown Atlanta/Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, but may be required to provide instruction at the South Campus or at locations in the local community.

Under general supervision, this instructor:
Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.
Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of current procedures in the Nursing field.
Prepares and delivers quality curriculum with daily instruction of students in the classroom & clinical settings.
Follows approved curriculum standards and course syllabi.
Monitors student use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Advises and counsels students, and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
Maintains classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.
Attends meetings as required.
Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.
Assists with student recruitment and job placement.
Serves on committees.
Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.
Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
Assists in the development of reports and other requirements for the Georgia Board of Nursing.

Certifications/Licenses: Georgia State Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Good Standing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by American Heart Association.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Masters degree in Nursing (MSN). Ideal candidate must have a minimum of three year’s strong clinical experience in acute patient care, OB, Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical, and/or emergency or trauma conditions and excellent knowledge and understanding of human pathophysiology. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Strong oral and written communication skills, organization and planning skills. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to work collaboratively. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work flexible hours when necessary. Current Georgia State Licensure as a Registered Nurse and in Good Standing. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by American Heart Association.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Doctoral Degree in Nursing or Education (PhD, DNP, EdD). Credentials, education and three to five years of full-time work experience in medical surgical nursing, acute patient care, OB, pediatrics, or emergency. A minimum of one year full-time teaching in an Associate Degree Nursing or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by American Heart Association.

May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
