Instructor for Associate of Science in Nursing (FT)

Albany Technical College seeks a full-time instructor for the Associate of Science Nursing Program.  This 12-month position is based at the Dougherty Campus, but may include routine travel throughout the local Service Delivery area. This position is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for assigned programs.  The Instructor will develop, modify, and implement educational training that meets both the instructional objectives of this institute and the needs of the students.  Under general supervision, the ASN Instructor prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses at a technical college.  He/she develops program and syllabi, goals and objectives and evaluates students’ progress in attaining those goals and objectives.  The ASN Instructor requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests, maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate, prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports, and attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.  He/she ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area, meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues, and assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. The ASN Instructor will be required to manage and recruit, maintain program standards by participating in related advisory committee meetings and work directly with local employers.  The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, organizational and classroom management skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in the use of MS Office Word and Excel.

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate MUST possess a Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing may apply if he/she is actively working towards earning a Master’s degree in Nursing.  The candidate must possess a Georgia State Licensure as a Registered Nurse and in Good Standing.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those candidates who possess post-secondary teaching experience-both traditional classroom and online instructions *AND* be proficient in the use of Banner *AND* have active participation in appropriate professional/occupational organizations.

Physical Demands: Work is typically performed in a classroom/clinical environment with intermittent sitting or walking in various settings. Must frequently lift and carry lightweight objects. Full range of hand and finger motion may be required for data entry purposes.

Salary/Benefits: Salary will be low $80’s, and is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, relocation assistance (provided by PHOEBE PUTNEY HEALTH SYSTEM, INC. (“PPHS”), and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
