Responsible for providing leadership for evening custodial personnel on the Valdosta Campus while utilizing the Operations and Maintenance Plan as a framework and guide for performance of duties. The position assists the Director of Facilities in attaining the southern region’s operational goals. Key responsibilities include: Monitoring custodial and maintenance schedules; supervises the maintenance of tiled and carpeted floor areas; schedules and supervises the cleaning of all administrative and instructional areas as needed; provides assistance to evening faculty and staff in moving equipment and furniture; supervises the maintenance of all restrooms and facilities, supervises custodial staff during the evening hours, opens and secures facilities as needed during the evening, responsible for coordinating and setting up for special events, and submits reports and correspondence as required.

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

● Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, Regular use of college owned or personal vehicle for performance of duties, Various types of light cleaning equipment.

● Working Conditions: Category I – High probability of exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Probability of working beyond the normal shift, but not frequently. Periodic travel between major Wiregrass campuses and satellite sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to perform and supervise custodial duties with progressive experience directly related to the field. Good communication, organization, and leadership skills are essential. Must be able to: 1. withstand prolonged standing, bending, walking, and lifting of at least 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations, 2. flex work hours to accommodate events or other employee absences, 3. work at other campus locations when needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to meeting all other minimum qualifications, the highly desired candidate will possess one or more of the following: Prior supervision of custodial work in a multi-building setting. Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications, specifically outlook. General computer skills to work within an automated work order system. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing custodial duties, and supervisory experience are preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.

SALARY/BENEFITS

Salary is $30,920/yr. This position is full‐time and includes standard State of GA benefits such as leave accrual, options for health & other supplemental benefits, and retirement. This position may qualify the successful candidate for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This position is funded in whole or in part by State/Local/Tuition funds.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS

Pursuant to college policy, a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history records check and employment history reference checks will be performed for all candidates offered employment. Other checks such as Motor Vehicle Records may be conducted for any candidate receiving an offer, as well as internal candidates prior to being promoted or transferred into a position with the college.
