Position: Paramedicine Program Director/Instructor

Location: Carroll Campus

Department: Academic Affairs – School Health Sciences

Reports to: Divisional Academic Dean

FLSA Designation: Exempt/Full-time, works a minimum of 40 hours per week

Nature of Duties: Under general supervision, the Paramedicine Program Director is responsible for the administration, organization, and supervision of the educational program and will assist with the instruction and training within the EMT Basic to Paramedic programs in accordance with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in the Emergency Medical Services Professions, and the Technical College System of Georgia. The program director is responsible for implementing Paramedic/EMT program policies and articulating the department needs to administration. Develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Collects and measures all program student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment; maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; attend consortia meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences; Implements meetings bi-annually with advisory board members. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area; meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues; assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Works closely with department faculty, adjuncts to ensure courses are taught in accordance with the curriculum standards. Under general supervision prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses; Ability to teach all Paramedic/EMT program courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.  Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Position may require day/evening/distance learning classes and activities.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • National Registry Paramedic license
  • Current State of Georgia Paramedic license
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care within the last seven years.
  • Current Georgia EMS Instructor/Coordinator (Paramedic) license
  • Teaching Experience at the post-secondary level
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Experience with CoAEMSP
  • Experience teaching with Blackboard LMS.
