Workforce Development Communications Director

The position is open to all applicants that meet the minimum qualifications below.

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their full-time Communications Director position in the Office of Workforce Development, Title I Programming. This position is located at the TCSG System Office 1800 Century Place, Atlanta, GA.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the development, planning, evaluation and management of marketing and communications programs, initiatives, and associated budgets to meet the needs of
  • Develops presentations for workforce staff and written content for various collateral.
  • Assists with writing publication pieces such as press releases and crafting the division’s overall message.
  • In consultation with internal partners, communicates with the media and handles public relations matters pertaining to the Workforce Division and associated entities.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Communications Department through strategic planning and staff operations.
  • Interacts and collaborates with peers, the State Board, Local Workforce Development Areas, community, business and educational leaders, and workforce stakeholders.
  • Conducts regular evaluations of services provided and initiates adjustments as needed.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages special projects for the Deputy Commissioner or Executive Director.
  • Serves as a representative of WorkSource Georgia in various internal and external meetings.
  • Develops brand management strategies.
  • Responsible for the promotion of OWD events and outreach strategies for business services activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or other related field *and* Five years’ experience in public relations and brand management
  • Two years’ experience supervision professional-level staff

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years’ experience supervising professional level staff.
  • Master’s degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or another related field
  • Accreditation in Public Relations (APR).
  • Experience in government/workforce development.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud and Meltwater.
  • Experience and confidence in public speaking.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and content development.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Skills in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Ability to produce and conduct presentations in large or small group settings.
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Skill in the operations of Microsoft Office Suite and on-line communications-based platforms
  • Oral and written communication skills
