TCSG State Workforce Development Board Chair, Wendell Dallas Appointed as Chair of National Association of State Workforce Board Chairs

ATLANTA, GA– The Technical College System of Georgia’s Office of Workforce Development congratulates State Workforce Development Board Chair, Wendell Dallas, for being appointed as the Chairman of the National Association of State Workforce Board Chairs.

Dallas, who has served as the Vice Chairman of National Association of State Workforce Board Chairs for the past two years, was appointed to serve as the Chairman at large of this national body of workforce development leaders.

“It’s both an honor and privilege to now serve as the Chairman of the National Association of State Workforce Development Board Chairs,” said Wendell Dallas. “I look forward to continuing our efforts of influencing polices that greatly enhance workforce development across the nation, in all 50 states, and in local communities alike.”

The National Association of State Workforce Board Chairs is a membership organization that provides the chairs and staff of governor-appointed state workforce boards with opportunities to build their leadership capacity, share best practices, collectively influence federal workforce policy, and become catalysts for state workforce development system reforms. The association provides a unified voice for state workforce boards on national policy issues, with a focus on strengthening the nation’s employment, training and education systems, and on collaborating with other national organizations engaged in areas of common interest.

“Wendell has been a trusted and invaluable leader as TCSG’s State Workforce Development Board Chair,” said TCSG Commissioner, Greg Dozier. “I know he will do a tremendous job advocating for impactful workforce development efforts across the country that serve business and industry in the 21st century economy.”

Dallas is the Vice President of sales and marketing for Georgia Power Company. In this role, he leads the implementation of the company’s topline revenue growth strategy. He is responsible for new product development, product distribution, e-commerce, sales management, and energy efficiency. Prior to this, Dallas served as Vice President of operations for two Southern Company Gas subsidiaries, Atlanta Gas Light and Chattanooga Gas. In this role, he was responsible for ensuring the company’s operational excellence in delivering clean, safe, reliable and affordable natural gas to more than 700,000 customers in five Georgia and Tennessee regions.

Dallas has more than 25 years of operations, management, and engineering experience in the natural gas industry. In 2000, he joined Atlanta Gas Light as a service area manager in Macon and shortly afterward began serving as the southeast Georgia region manager in Savannah. He previously held positions as the Vice President of economic and community development for the Southern Company Gas multistate footprint. He also served as the Atlanta Gas Light Vice President and General Manager.

In the community, he serves on several non-profit, community, and industry boards. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Auburn University Engineering Alumni Council and is the past co-chair of the Georgia Literacy Commission and chair of MAX, the Metro Atlanta Exchange for Workforce Solutions.

In 2013, Dallas received the Multicultural Leadership Award from the Georgia Diversity Council for his commitment to advancing his peers within his organization and the community.

A native of Opelika, Alabama, Dallas earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University. Dallas is a graduate of Leadership Georgia, Leadership Atlanta, and Leadership Savannah.
