This support includes comprehensive College review and assessment of planning, preparedness, drills & exercises, response and recovery processes concerning emergency management. Comparable support is provided in the area of Clery Act Compliance which requires Colleges to report campus crime data, support victims of violence and publicly disclose policies and procedures established to advance campus safety. Further, the System Office contributes leadership and expertise to College peer group collegial interactions, coordinator professional development, specific content training and resource identification.

At the System Office level, the staff of DPS participates as a member of the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) State Disaster Response Team. In this role, TCSG DPS responds to resource requests during emergency and disaster events and aids in planning responsibilities for the State’s Hazard Mitigation Strategy Plan and the Georgia Emergency Operations Plan among others. DPS promotes College Clery Act Compliance through the advancement of the System Office Clery Act Team. Further, DPS contributes technical advice to the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (SBTCSG) and advances the safety of System Office employees through appraisal and preparation concerning emergency preparedness, business continuity and exposure control.”
