Dual Enrollment Award Amounts

Funding Cap

  • Effective Summer term 2020 and beyond, the Dual Enrollment Funding Program is capped at 30 semester credit hours for all first-time Dual Enrollment-funded students. The funding cap does not include dual credit coursework attempted and paid for by other sources.
  • The award is available for up to a maximum of 15 semester credit hours per term.
  • Dual Enrollment funding includes funding for tuition, mandatory fees, and books.
  • Dual Enrollment funding is available up to the student’s high school or home study graduation date, or the student reaches the funding cap, whichever occurs first.

Previous Dual Enrollment Funding Program Participants

  • Students who received Dual Enrollment funding for 18 semester credit hours or less, through Spring term 2020, are subject to the Funding Cap. For Summer Term 2020 and later, these students may receive funding for the remaining hours, up to the Dual Enrollment Funding Cap of 30 semester credit hours.
  • Students who received Dual Enrollment funding for 19 semester credit hours or more through Spring term 2020 — the Funding Cap is extended for an additional 12 semester credit hours of funding.

Reaching the Funding Cap

Options for students who reach the Dual Enrollment Funding Cap:

  • A student may self-pay for college courses. TCSG colleges may charge the student tuition, fees, and books, based on credit hours of enrollment not covered by Dual Enrollment funding.
  • A student may qualify for HOPE and Career Grant Bridge funding if the student is enrolled in an eligible Career Grant certificate or diploma program at a TCSG institution. The HOPE Grant provides tuition assistance. The student may have some tuition, fees, and book expenses. Check with the TCSG college.
  • Upon reaching the Funding Cap, the TCSG college may charge tuition and a prorated portion of the mandatory fees and book costs, based on credit hours not covered by Dual Enrollment funding.

Other Options

Students may self-pay for tuition, fees, and books if:

  • Student chooses to enroll in a course not on the Dual Enrollment Course Directory
  • Student is not eligible for the Dual Enrollment Funding Program due to grade level requirements
  • Student is not enrolled in an eligible or participating high school

Student Responsibility

The postsecondary institution may charge a Dual Enrollment student a fine for lost or damaged books loaned to the student.
