Mark H. Wilson is Director, Human Resources at Langdale Industries, Inc. in Valdosta, Georgia. He has 40 years of HR experience and education, including 31 years at Langdale. Mark has a passion to create, enhance and replicate innovative HR programs, such as workforce development solutions that benefit employees, employers, communities and all stakeholders. Mark has a unique blend of strategic leadership, vision and technical expertise obtained from executive responsibilities at Langdale, and from years of service on several community organizations.
Mr. Wilson provides assistance on a wide range of corporate HR functions, including policy writing, public relations, company wide employee communication programs, workforce development projects, recruitment and hiring, regulatory compliance, and wage and benefit programs. The Langdale self-funded, in-house employee healthcare benefit plan has achieved significant cost savings, better educated consumers, healthier lifestyles, lower employee turnover cost, less employee absenteeism and better employee productivity.
Mark represents Langdale in outward facing roles with various community groups. At the regional, statewide and national levels, he collaborates with organizations on generally three main areas: workforce development, education and healthcare. With experience obtained from interviewing thousands of job candidates, Mark advises applicants on how to better sell themselves to employers. Mark serves with a team of business and education experts on how to collaborate for developing agritourism and forestry field trips that provide experiential learning opportunities for youth and adults. He assists middle school STEM leaders and students as they develop entrepreneurial skills for designing new products from forestry by-products. Mr. Wilson also serves as a founding board member of Horizons Community Solutions/Cancer Coalition of South Georgia in the quest to solve the social determinates of health issues. Mark is the Vice Chair of Employer Health Alliance of Georgia which provides peer-to-peer learning for self-funded employers, and serves on several Georgia Chamber of Commerce Committees (Labor and Employment, Talent and Leadership Policy and the Rural Prosperity Council). Mark’s passion is to create solutions for rural community health, education and workforce development challenges, since they are major keys to success for achieving sustained prosperity.
Mr. Wilson has held executive leadership roles in other organizations. He was Facilitator for the Governor’s Leadership Group on Health Care, Chair of the Lowndes County Partnership for Health, Advisor for the Valdosta State University Adult Career Education Department and Valdosta Early College Academy, Chair of the Governmental Affairs Council for the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Quitman-Brooks County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club of Quitman, Georgia and he was a gubernatorial appointee to the Health Strategies Council as a Large Industry Representative. Mark has a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Alabama.
