We offer free classes to help you prepare to earn your high school equivalency or brush up on your reading, math, and job skills. Our classes are designed to help you get ready to take the next step, whether it’s to enter college or start a career. We also offer workforce training to help students qualify for promotions or jobs in high-demand industries. Classes are available in person, online, or a mix of both. Welcome to the home of the official Georgia High School Equivalency (HSE) Program where you can learn about choosing a high school equivalency pathway, taking an HSE test or enrolling in classes, and earning your HSE. In Georgia, you can earn an HSE by passing the GED® Test or HiSET® Exam. Each of these computer-based tests are available through designated testing centers or can be proctored at-a-distance. HOPE High School Equivalency (HSE) Examination Grant Program

Eligible Georgia residents can now apply for an award not to exceed $200 to cover the cost of a high school equivalency examination. The HOPE HSE Grant is available once per subject area exam to those who qualify. To learn more, visit www.HSEtest4Free.com or call 404-679-1645.

When registering for a test, open testing locations with available testing dates will automatically display. Availability may vary due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Examinees can expand the distance they are willing to travel to identify additional sites.

Online Testing

The GED test and HiSET exam can both be taken at home in a proctored environment. The GED test option is called the Online Proctored GED and the HiSET option is called HiSET at Home. These options require a computer, camera, speakers, and Internet connectivity for the individual delivery of the test at home or in another secure location.

How much does the GED test cost?

What is my cost if I test at a Test Center?

– Georgia currently charges $26.75 per subject or full battery $133.75 for the HiSET exam at a Test Center. Starting September 1, 2024, Georgia charges $31.00 per subject or full battery $155.00 for the HiSET exam at a Test Center.

Starting July 1, 2023: Georgia charges $46 per subject for the GED® test at a Test Center.

What is my cost if I test Online?

– Georgia charges $46 per subject for the GED® test taken online.

How much does the HiSET test cost?

What is my cost if I test at a Test Center?

– Georgia currently charges $26.75 per subject or full battery $133.75 for the HiSET exam at a Test Center. Starting September 1, 2024, Georgia charges $31.00 per subject or full battery $155.00 for the HiSET exam at a Test Center.

– Georgia charges $36.25 per subject or $181.25 for the full battery for the HiSET@Home exam. Starting September 1, 2024, Georgia charges $40.50 per subject or $202.50 for the full battery for the HiSET@Home exam.
