The Technical College System of Georgia’s Special Populations Program is available to assist all students with removing and/or overcoming academic, career, and economic barriers. The Special Population Program ensures equal access to recruitment, enrollment, job placement activities, and the full range of technical education programs and activities.

Each of TCSG’s 22 technical colleges provide support services to special population students in an effort to alleviate barriers that interfere with successful completion of courses and employment.

Services are available for students based on eligibility, and their self-identification in one or more of the following special population identifications:

• Are you a single parent (divorced, widowed, never married, or pregnant)?
• Are you an out-of-workforce individual?
• Are you a person with a disability (physical, mental, medical, or learning)?
• Are you a student with other barriers to educational achievement, including individuals with limited English proficiency?
• Are you a homeless individual?
• Are you a youth who is in, or aged out of, the foster care system?
• Are you a student preparing for a non-traditional career field (examples: male nurse or female welder)?
• Are you economically disadvantaged (identified through Pell eligibility)?

• Assistance with classroom accommodations
  (Only for students who provide documentation and are registered with disability services)
• Student resource guides and referral information
• One-on-one support guidance
• Academic coaching and advisement
• Life skills workshops
• Internal campus support
• Crisis intervention
• Community resource referrals for childcare, transportation, food assistance, and more
• Career guidance and job search preparation
