Position Accounting Technician
Savannah Technical College is seeking a Revenue Accounting Technician. The Accounting Technician is responsible for performing various paraprofessional accounting duties in support of financial accounting processes. Duties include:
- Reviews a wide range of source documents, such as invoices, receipts, cash register reports and other forms for accuracy and completeness;
- Assigns standard pre-established accounting codes and other identifying information;
- Enters routine financial transactions into accounting systems; verifies and corrects information; reconciles accounting records;
- Scans, organizes and maintains hard copy files of departmental records;
- Receives, controls and records cash, check, and credit card payments; operates or assists with cash register functions as needed;
- Establishes, maintains and processes third-party contracts and scholarships in the student accounts receivable system;
- Establishes, maintains and processes electronic billing and payment processes within the third-party vendor systems;
- Attends training and implements processes as directed;
- Enters payment data into student accounts records;
- Provides information and assistance to callers and visitors;
- Performs limited, routine general clerical duties; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent *and* One (1) year of experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work
Preferred Qualifications
· Associates Degree in Accounting
- Proficiency in the following computer programs/applications: Peoplesoft Financials, BANNER Student Database – specifically BANNER Accounts Receivable, Nebraska Bookstore System, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working within the Technical College System of Georgia
Physical Demands
Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. The employee frequently bends, lifts and carries lightweight objects up to 25 pounds. The ability to speak clearly is required. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes.
Salary/Benefits
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
