Augusta Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, is a two-year college located in Augusta, Georgia. ABOUT THE POSITION Job Title: Lab Assistant (Part- Time)                                                                                                               Job Code: 32701 Campus Location:  Augusta Campus

Salary:  Commensurate with education and work experience.


The Professional Laboratory Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty members and performs routine standardized laboratory work requiring close attention to detailed procedures in the preparation and basic maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, inventory and requisition of supplies, assisting faculty in supervision of students assigned to laboratories, and other related duties and is employed on an individual academic term basis.


Associate degree in engineering technology or bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline.


Three (3) to five (5) years of industrial experience or applicable laboratory experience.


Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, excellent human relations skills, effective oral and written communication skills, knowledgeable of common software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point), and the ability to implement technology into instructions.


▪  Assists the course instructor with the day to day activities and services of the lab area including scheduling, lab set-up, and management of lab equipment and supplies.

▪  Ensures that the lab/classroom is clean, safe, and organized; promotes safe lab practices.


▪  Maintains and files course documents in accordance with the College and program policies and procedures.

▪  Proctors tests/examinations and provides instructional and/or remediation support under the supervision of course instructor.

▪  Conducts periodic inventory of lab resources and assists in requisitioning of lab supplies.

▪  Helps to update and install lab software for engineering technology applications.

▪  Performs other duties as assigned by the course lab instructor, the Department Head, and/or the Dean.

▪  Maintains credentials required for the position and profession. ▪  Demonstrates respect for students as individuals.
